Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is getting a reputation as bad as New York’s Andrew Cuomo.
She was blasted all throughout last year for her harsh lockdown measures. Even as residents demanded their rights, she extended those lockdowns.
We later learned that some of her family allegedly tried to defy her orders.
Now it seems she is embroiled in a similar nursing home scandal as Cuomo. She tried to worm out of an investigation.
But Republicans aren’t backing down.
From Daily Wire:
After Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, a Democrat and close ally of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D), rejected a call from the state GOP for an investigation into Whitmer’s handling of nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic… the GOP legislator leading the call for an investigation hinted this week that he might call for a special prosecutor to look into the issue.
Much like the governor of New York, Gretchen Whitmer passed a ludicrous order that forced COVID patients into nursing homes.
While other states were prioritizing the protection of the elderly, Whitmer was making the crisis much worse.
Republicans demanded an investigation into her decision. They wanted to know if Whitmer’s decision added to the staggering 5,551 deaths at Michigan nursing homes.
The big problem? The state’s attorney general is an ally of Gretchen’s. There is no way she would lead an investigation that could put her in jeopardy.
Once again proving that Democrats put their party ahead of justice, even in the Department of Justice.
Not backing down, state Republicans are looking at the budget to appoint a special prosecutor. If that doesn’t work, they are “talking about a lot of” possible ways to hold Ms. Whitmer accountable.
Many are questioning the sanity of putting COVID-positive people into nursing homes. At the very start of the pandemic, we knew the elder was most at risk. And nursing homes aren’t hospitals; diseases can spread very easily.
Forcing sick people into nursing homes to live among the healthy is objectively foolish. Cuomo is facing an FBI investigation over his terrible decision. His career is circling the drain.
Obviously, Gretchen doesn’t want the same to happen to her. But she can’t run from the truth forever.
- Republicans demanded an investigation into Gov. Whitmer’s nursing home order.
- The state AG—a Whitmer ally—refused, to protect the governor.
- So, Republicans are looking at ways to appoint a special prosecutor.
