President Joe Biden currently intends to run again in 2024, though he reportedly had walked that back saying it wasn’t 100% certain yet.
Others worry that his age and cognitive state might not hold up, while others point toward a variety of younger Democratic candidates.
But White House officials apparently are worried about something else.
Right now, polls show that it’s likely Republicans will flip the House after the midterm elections are complete. And they might snag the Senate as well.
If this happens, the GOP has already said they plan to unleash a variety of hard-hitting investigations.
One of those probes would involve the Biden family’s business dealings, with Hunter Biden’s ongoing controversy taking center-stage.
This is of major concern in Washington (from Breitbart):
Aides in the Biden administration fear Hunter and President Joe Biden’s shady business activities could doom the president’s potential campaign in 2024, Politico reported.
The Republicans’ investigations into the Biden family upon retaking the House in November could derail any hope of Joe Biden’s returning to the White House after 2024.
Politico’s reporters said that if Republicans take the House and investigate Hunter, “it could weigh heavily on the president’s decision to run for a second term.”
Aides added that Biden might decide not to run if it “would shield his family from hostile congressional investigations.”
The White House is already reportedly preparing “messaging strategies” if the GOP take the House and start investigations into the Biden businesses.
It’s possible that Republicans will appoint a special committee to investigate the family, which could in turn cast the spotlight on Joe Biden.
Right now, Hunter Biden is accused of tax fraud, money laundering, and gun and foreign lobbying violations.
Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney David Weiss has officially leveled these allegations, though AG Merrick Garland hasn’t said if a special counsel would be in order.
Americans across the country certainly seem suspicious about the Biden family’s background at this point.
According to a recent poll, 62 percent of registered voters think Joe Biden had full knowledge of the family dealings, and 58% say he played an active role.
So, if Republicans kick off an official probe, it could definitely have a significant impact on Biden’s 2024 decision.
- White House aides are reportedly worried about a GOP-led House investigating the Bidens.
- They think a probe into Hunter Biden and the family businesses could cause Joe to stay out of the 2024 race.
- A recent poll showed that the majority of Americans believe Joe Biden is well aware of his family’s business dealings.
