We haven’t heard much from Maxine Waters. It’s been a while since this Democrat was railing about impeachment.
But she hasn’t gone away. She was put on a powerful finance committee when Democrats took the House in 2018.
It seems that the lifelong liberal, though, isn’t as good with money as some would have hoped. Because it seems like she is in hot water with what she did with campaign funds.
From NY Post:
The daughter of California Rep. Maxine Waters netted around $240,000 this past election cycle — from her mother’s own campaign, new records show.
The congresswoman’s campaigns shelled out payments to Karen Waters for work she did on her 82-year-old mother’s re-election campaign, including “slate mailer management” and “GOTV” — or likely “Get Out the Vote” services.
Uh-oh. We occasionally see candidates pay their family members (or their companies) large sums of cash during a campaign.
As in the case of Ilhan Omar, she paid her new husband’s firm large sums of money (millions) for consulting services.
It could just be a case of hiring people you trust. Or, it could be a way of funneling money into your own pockets.
New records reveal that Waters paid her daughter a whopping $240,000 for “slate mailer management” and “Get out the vote” services.
What does that mean? Did she pay her daughter nearly a quarter of a million dollars to send out mailers?
How hard is that?
Now, this story doesn’t prove she did anything wrong. After all, a campaign can pay anyone any sum of money—if they are really working for them.
But it does raise plenty of questions. One big one is: will the government bother to investigate, just to make sure nothing wrong was done?
Do you want Maxine investigated over this?
