Virginia’s Democrat governor, Ralph Northam, is becoming more left-wing by the moment. He and his liberal government has been pushing a radical agenda, particularly when it comes to gun rights.
Yet it seems he found his biggest opportunity to roll back Virginians’ Second Amendment rights with this virus panic. The governor actually outlawed indoor gun ranges to “protect” residents from infection.
But it looks like he went too far—and a judge agrees.
From Free Beacon:
A Virginia judge ruled on Monday that Democratic governor Ralph Northam’s shutdown of indoor gun ranges violates state gun-rights protections…
He said the governor’s emergency powers are limited under Virginia law and cannot restrict the “otherwise lawful possession, carrying, transportation, sale, or transfer of firearms.”
A state judge ruled that Gov. Northam’s shutdown of indoor gun ranges violated state law.
In fact, he said that Northam’s powers were “limited” under Virginia law. And that he can’t restrict lawful “possession, carrying, transportation” or other uses of firearms.
This is a pretty important moment during these lockdowns. Since March, state governors (especially Democrats) have been shutting down everything under the sun.
It’s hard not to believe Democrats have seen this crisis as a way to harass and limit the liberties of Americans. And that includes our gun rights.
This judge’s ruling could influence future cases, as lawsuits resulting from this crisis are sure to explode in the coming months.
Keep in mind, this isn’t even the first lawsuit aimed at a governor over these lockdowns. There are cases popping up all over the country.
This is more than just keeping an indoor gun range open. The crisis we face isn’t really even about the virus.
It’s about whether we will let leaders—state, local, or federal—to strip us of our rights, whenever it’s convenient for them.
The fact that this judge ruled in favor of free Americans is a good sign. It means more judges might rule that these strict lockdowns violated state constitutions—and the U.S. Constitution.
More than that, it might start a movement to scale back more of Gov. Northam’s gun control laws.
SHARE if you stand with Virginia’s gun owners.
