Many warned that trying to remove Trump via the 25th Amendment or impeachment was fruitless. With only days before Biden enters office, why waste the country’s time or patience?
As usual, Democrats ignored common sense to jam an impeachment vote. Because of their slim majority, it was passed.
But, to the shock of Americans, ten Republicans actually turned on the president to vote with the left. So soon after he helped many earn re-elections, they voted against him.
And it seems Trump supporters are not about to forget how these “conservatives” turned on President Trump.
From Western Journal:
Ten Republican House members voted to impeach President Donald Trump over the deadly riot at the Capitol…
Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, the third-ranking House Republican, led the GOP opposition to Trump, saying in a statement, “There has never been a greater betrayal by a President of the United States of his office and his oath to the Constitution.”
Nine other House Republicans also supported impeachment: Reps. John Katko of New York; Adam Kinzinger of Illinois; Anthony Gonzalez of Ohio; Fred Upton and Peter Meijer of Michigan; Jaime Herrera Beutler and Dan Newhouse of Washington; Tom Rice of South Carolina; and David Valadao of California.
Liz Cheney, daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney and one of the top Republicans in the House, led the charge of ten Republicans who voted for impeachment.
Cheney, citing no evidence, accused Trump of “betraying” the country and his oath of office. After four years of working to fulfill his campaign promises, it seems Cheney wants us to believe Trump betrayed the country.
Soon after the events of January 6, many D.C. Republicans criticized Trump. They showed their true colors as politicians who cared more about saving their own skin than standing up for the party.
I guess the swamp runs deep, even on the right.
This impeachment push had no investigation or probe. Not a single Democrat bothered to prove their accusations against the president. Any legitimate Republican lawmaker should have stood by the president, demanding transparency and accountability from the House.
Instead, ten of these lawmakers caved.
Perhaps they were just afraid of the incoming administration. Or perhaps they never supported the president from day one.
In any case, I doubt voters will be eager to back them come 2022.
Will you be voting for any of these 10 next time?
- Ten Republicans voted with Democrats for the second impeachment of Trump.
- Liz Cheney accused Trump of betraying his oath of office.
- Democrats rushed the vote, with no investigation or evidence.
