Four years ago, Trump was determined to shut down a standard liberal election scheme. He claimed this method was “un-American,” and many voters might have avoided it because of that.
But Trump is singing a different tune today. Joining with his daughter-in-law, GOP co-chair Lara Trump, Trump unveiled a major new plan for 2024. This “swamp” plan could turn the tables on Democrats, and Trump is explaining why.

Former President Trump is urging Republicans to use “every appropriate tool to beat the Democrats,” which the presumptive GOP nominee says includes early voting and absentee balloting.It’s a major reversal from Trump’s stance four years ago when he repeatedly condemned early-in-person voting and mail-in balloting and said they were to blame for what he argued was massive election fraud that led to his defeat at the hands of President Biden.
“Republicans must win and we will use every appropriate tool to beat the Democrats because they are destroying our country,” Trump argued in his statement.
Trump and the Republican National Committee launched the “Swamp the Vote USA” effort. This movement will encourage voters to use every legal means of casting their ballots to overcome the Democrats’ advantage in this area. That includes Republicans effectively using mail-in ballots, early voting, and ballot harvesting.
It will take a strong effort by the GOP to get their voters to use these methods. Historically, Republican voters have looked down on early voting and these other methods. Some Republicans, including in blue states like California, have been doing this for years and have seen big success. In some cases, they have managed to score upset wins in blue districts.
