Former President Donald Trump has remained a force since leaving the White House, and he has frequently teased a second run in Washington.
And many think he’s perfectly positioned to do exactly that: he seems to still have immense popularity and is the leading GOP candidate according to polls.
On top of that, the “Kingmaker” is able to rake in some serious money.
Trump is well known for being able to produce mass amounts of fundraising capital, and he clearly hasn’t lost that all-important ability.
Although he’s certainly wealthy, the Republican lightning rod will require as much money as possible if he’s going to take another stab at the Oval Office.
Thankfully, his constituents and other donors are responding in droves.
From Fox News:
The former president’s three political committees hauled in just over $19 million during the January-March first quarter of fundraising.
And the three entities — Trump’s Save America PAC, Save America JFC (joint fundraising committee) and MAGA PAC — report ending March with a massive $124 million in cash on hand in their coffers.
It’s clear that Trump is still the most popular member of the GOP, and his power and influence has already helped other Republicans get elected.
But if Trump himself wants to get reelected, he’ll definitely need the backing of as many citizens as possible.
Taylor Budowich is the communications director for the former President and the Save America PAC, and he had this to say:
President Donald J. Trump’s political organizations are positioned to carry his America First message into battleground races across the nation.
The average donation size during the first quarter was a little over $28, and Trump’s team tallied a grand total of 679,445 contributions in just those 3 months.
In the second half of last year, Trump raked in about $51 million and had approximately $122 million cash on hand at the start of 2022.
Now that total number is up only $2.1 million despite bringing in $19 million, which means Trump and his friends are definitely spending that money — possibly on early 2024 campaign maneuvers.
This could give the former POTUS the advantage he needs in a couple years.
And given the apparent spending, it seems clear that Trump’s team is definitely preparing for something big. And that is exactly what his supporters are hoping for.
As Bodowich concluded:
President Trump is incredibly well-positioned to look beyond November as the need for his leadership has never been more important.
Key Takeaways:
- Former President Donald Trump’s 3 PACs raked in $19 million in Q1 2022.
- That gives him over $124M on hand, though his team has obviously been shelling out some of that money recently.
- It’s very possible that Trump plans to use this war chest to run again in 2024.
