President Trump has spent much of his first term in office undoing policies enacted by the Obama administration.
He has done so much to reverse the previous administration, some liberals said Obama’s legacy has been entirely undone.
It appears Trump’s administration is not finished reversing the Obama agenda. His administration passed a new rule that directly reverses one of Obama’s rules, and one of the left’s biggest, current causes.
The Department of Housing and Human Services finalized a regulation Friday reversing an ObamaCare rule that sought to protect transgender rights and abortion access.
The policy shift redefines gender as a person’s biological sex, whereas an Obama-era regulation defined sex as “one’s internal sense of gender, which may be male, female, neither, or a combination of male and female.”
… Under the new policy, hospitals and insurers, on the basis of religious freedom, can refuse to provide services such as abortions and gender-transition procedures.
Why is this so important?
Because the Obama administration seemingly sided with far-left gender activists. Critics of such activists claim these groups are denying what biological science seems to say about gender.
Obama’s policy required hospitals and insurers to perform procedures they may have deemed dangerous or immoral.
Trump’s new rule brings the government back in line with science. It does not allow for discrimination nor does it prevent a citizen’s access to health care.
It does, however, protect the First Amendment rights of groups that have previously been under attack by left-wing organizations.
As is expected, the ACLU promised a lawsuit to challenge the new rule.
- Trump’s HHS reversed an Obama-era rule, restoring rights to hospitals and providers.
- It brings the government back in line with biological science.
- The new rule is being challenged by far-left ACLU.
