Trump Finally Makes His Big VP Move – This Is the Step Everyone’s Been Waiting For

The Republican National Convention is coming up soon. This is the big moment the GOP will make its case to America. Donald Trump will be officially hailed as their presidential nominee—despite Democrat-led prosecutions and a conviction.

Trump promised that he would reveal his running mate just before this event. Many names have been floating around, with speculation rising over recent weeks.

Now, he just made a big move that has Americans talking. The once long “shortlist” has become much shorter. Trump’s campaign has reached out to several possible contenders. And these names might surprise you.

From Just the News:
Former President Donald Trump’s campaign is starting to formally request information from possible running mates including North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum and Sens. Marco Rubio and J.D. Vance.

Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., and former Housing and Urban Development Sec. Ben Carson were also asked for information by Trump’s campaign but the extent of the requests is not clear, according to a report from ABC News.

Trump’s campaign reached out for information from several Republican leaders. It appears this is part of Team Trump’s vetting process. The top names were North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Sen. Marco Rubio, and Sen. J.D. Vance. These names might be a shocker to some Trump supporters.

While these are well-known Republican leaders, they are not immediately associated with the “MAGA” movement. Some might consider Burgum and Rubio more moderate, perhaps even RINO to some critics. Sen. Vance previously criticized Trump, but the two have become allies in recent years.

These aren’t the only people Trump appears to be vetting. Other Republicans contacted by the campaign include Sen. Tim Scott, Rep. Byron Donalds, Rep. Elise Stefanik, and former Trump administration official Ben Carson.

What the campaign is asking for has yet to be released. But if these names are being considered for Trump’s vice presidential pick, the campaign could ask about anything.

Trump has spoken fondly about all of these Republicans. He has not tipped his hand if he has a favorite. Other names have floated around for a long time, including Ron DeSantis, Tulsi Gabbard, and even Robert F. Kennedy Jr. But it does not look like Trump is considering any of them.

Key Takeaways:

  • Trump’s campaign appears to be vetting running mate picks.
  • It requested information from top Republicans, including Sen. Rubio and Vance.
  • Trump had promised to announce his running mate just before the convention.
