What’s Happening:
Millions of Americans were shocked when a Democrat DA indicted Donald Trump. Most Americans are eager to find out how this unprecedented event will end. Legal expert Alan Dershowitz predicted the worst, that Donald Trump will be indicted by a corrupt jury.
But it doesn’t seem as if Trump intends for that to happen, even if he can overturn it in appeal. His legal team is moving quickly to prevent this indictment to cast a shadow over our country. And they have revealed their number one priority.
From NTD:
Former President Donald Trump’s attorney Jim Trusty said that the former president’s legal team is focusing on dismissing the indictment after he was arrested and charged late last month by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
“I think the motions to dismiss have to be a priority because they amputate this miscarriage of justice early on,” Trusty told ABC “This Week” on Sunday morning.
Trump’s legal team is seeking to get this case thrown out as fast as possible. Many legal experts have pointed out that the accusations that Trump falsified business records are just a misdemeanor, not a felony offense.
The DOJ refused to indict him over this, because of that very reason. Yet DA Bragg, who campaigned on “getting” Trump, appears to be twisting the law to indict the former president. He is claiming Trump committed larger crimes, yet this indictment is over these so-called falsified records.
Even Democrats complained that this was a weak case. And any reasonable judge won’t want to waste time and public resources on a case like this. Which is why Trump’s attorneys are seeking to get it thrown out.
But will a New York judge listen to them? Is the judge presiding over this case just as biased and corrupt as this DA? We can’t predict anything about this case. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens next.
Key Takeaways:
- Trump’s legal team is seeking to get DA charges dismissed.
- They say this is their top priority after Democrats indicted Trump.
- Many legal experts claim this case is weak and should be thrown out.
