Donald Trump Given Red State Honor – Republicans Just Voted To Name A Stretch Of Highway In OK After Donald

It’s common for past Presidents to receive certain honors and accolades after serving the country. States and cities name buildings, streets, airports, and parks after U.S. Commanders-in-Chief.

Of course, it seems Demcorats would be happy if the nation just forgot about Donald J. Trump. And the current administration has already taken strides to erase 45’s legacy.

But that didn’t stop one red state from honoring the former President Trump.

The 45th President remains immensely popular with millions of voters throughout the U.S., despite losing the 2020 election. And many are hoping Trump opts to run again in 2024.

Trump hasn’t confirmed that he will run again, but he hasn’t left the political sphere since leaving the White House.

But even if he never holds political office again, Oklahoma has ensured that his legacy will live on — at least in some fashion. It’s an honor that right-wing politicians and voters will definitely appreciate:

Republicans have voted to rename a stretch of highway after President Trump (via The Daily Wire):

Under a new bill, signed by Republican Governor Kevin Stitt, Oklahoma will rename a 20-mile stretch of highway, between Boise City and the border with Texas, after the forty-fifth president.

The highway, part of U.S. route 287, runs north to south through the Oklahoma panhandle.

In order for this to happen, though, lawmakers did have to make a change:

Per The Oklahoman, they had to amend a bill that requires everyone except Medal of Honor winners to have been dead for at least 3 years before they can have a bridge or road named after them.

However, after that change was made, the move passed easily.

And it isn’t the first such honor Trump has received since ending his term in January.

For instance, a freshman Ohio lawmaker formally requested to rename Mosquito Lake State Park in Trumbull County to Donald J. Trump State Park. Said state representative Mike Loychik:

This legislation is meant to honor the commitment and dedication that our 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, bestowed upon the great people of Trumbull County.

It seems all too easy to get Barack Obama’s name everywhere in the past few years, and a bit more difficult for states to accept Trump’s name.

But again, it is happening in certain parts of the country, and Trump supporters should be encouraged by these shows of respect. After all, it’s a legacy that must be maintained in their eyes.

Just don’t expect to see a lot of blue states using Trump’s name much in the future.

Key Takeaways:

  • Oklahoma just voted to give former President Donald Trump a nice honor.
  • They’re renaming a 20-mile stretch of highway to reflect the 45th President’s name.
  • An Ohio state rep. also wants to change the name of a Trumbull County park to Donald J. Trump State Park.
