Recently, a Republican primary poll came out that shook up the race. Despite numerous debates and endless rallying, most of the Republican candidates cannot catch up with the former president.
Democrats are equally shocked to learn that Donald Trump continues to widen his lead over his fellow conservatives.
Over the weekend, Trump visited a college football game in South Carolina. Not only is that the home of rival Nikki Haley, but her alma mater was playing. This is how the crowd reacted to his visit.
From The Post Millennial:
On Saturday, former President Donald Trump visited the home of fellow GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley to attend a college football game between her alma mater, Clemson University, and its rivals, the University of South Carolina, in the annual Palmetto Bowl.As often happens when the 2024 GOP frontrunner attends large sporting events, the crowd went wild, with cheers and applause heard from all over the stadium.

When Trump stepped out onto the field to greet the packed stadium, the crowd broke out in large cheers and applause. Other video clips showed attendees cheering him from his box at the stadium.
Haley’s spokesperson claimed she is the “only candidate with momentum” and suggested South Carolina voters were backing her. Yet the response to Trump’s visit could have Haley very worried.
On top of that, Trump just scooped up many endorsements from South Carolina leaders, including some who had been backing Tim Scott.
From The Post Millennial:
On Saturday, former President Donald Trump’s campaign announced that he received 30 new endorsements from leaders in the South Carolina Republican party, including six state legislators who previously endorsed former Tim Scott (R-SC).
Tim Scott recently dropped out of the race. Six South Carolina Republicans who had been backing him did not switch to Haley, another South Carolinian. Instead, they are rallying behind the former president.
Trump had recently called on the Republican National Committee to end the debates and shift its resources to defeating Joe Biden. Many of Trump’s allies have echoed similar sentiments, claiming Trump has already won.
Key Takeaways:
- South Carolinians cheered Trump during a college football game.
- Nikki Haley, one of Trump’s rivals, hails from South Carolina.
- This comes as Trump’s lead is increasing among his GOP rivals.
