Dr. Anthony Fauci remains a controversial character in the ongoing coronavirus saga.
Many have accused Dr. Fauci of giving America inaccurate or misleading projections and models in recent months.
And now, White House trade adviser Peter Navarro has lowered the boom:
In a scathing op-ed published in USA Today, Navarro tore into Fauci, and his statements could cast more doubt on Fauci’s recommendations.
In fact, Navarro said Fauci has been “wrong about everything,” which is bound to be a widely debated statement.
From Fox News:
‘Dr. Anthony Fauci has a good bedside manner with the public, but he has been wrong about everything I have interacted with him on,’ Navarro wrote in a blistering op-ed for USA Today.
Navarro pulls no punches in the op-ed, adding that Fauci “fought against” the President’s “courageous decision” in late January to suspend flights from China.
He also said he warned of a possible pandemic, while Fauci was “telling our news media not to worry.”
There is some evidence that earlier this year, the doctor didn’t seem to be as concerned about the prospect of an epidemic.
For example, Navarro jabbed at Fauci for “flip-flopping on the use of masks,” and ultimately concluded that citizens shouldn’t blindly follow Fauci’s advice:
So when you ask me whether I listen to Dr. Fauci’s advice my answer is: only with skepticism and caution.
However, Navarro’s comments don’t come with a stamp of approval from the Trump administration.
A senior administration official told Fox News that Navarro was “going rogue,” and another said his op-ed was “definitely not approved by the White House.”
Even so, the comments are out there now, and they’re already facing criticism and backlash.
In a difficult time, U.S. residents want to be able to trust their leaders … particularly their medical leaders. But we have received a lot of conflicting advice and evidence in recent months.
And that’s what Navarro was railing against in his piece, apparently.
But how will Dr. Fauci respond?
- White House trade adviser Peter Navarro slammed Dr. Anthony Fauci in a newly published op-ed.
- He said Fauci was “wrong about everything,” and advised America to accept his advice “only with skepticism and caution.”
- The Trump administration says they don’t approve of the comments, and added that Navarro was “going rogue.”
