Federal Court Just Ruled on Texas Election Law – They Release Lower Court’s Hold and Stop Democrats in Their Tracks

What’s Happening:

If American democracy is to survive, every state has to protect its elections. Yet, Democrats have fought tooth and nail to stop common-sense voter integrity bills from passing. Some of their claims are idiotic, as is the with this Texas law.

The Lone Star state passed a law requiring proof of residence, for those who used a P.O. box to register to vote. Seems pretty reasonable, right? Nobody lives inside a P.O., so how can you use that as your residence? A lower court blocked the law after activists claimed it “chilled” voters’ free speech.

This is what a federal court had to say about it.

From Just the News:

A federal appeals court has removed a lower court’s hold on Texas’ election integrity law, scoring another win for measures that seek to validate the identity of voters before they cast ballots.

The Texas measure was passed by the Legislature and signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott in 2021. It required registered voters who list their address as a commercial P.O. Box, or any other non-physical location, to provide proper documentation of a physical residency.

Left-wing activist groups sued Texas, claiming this common sense law had a “chilling” effect on residents’ free speech. Really? How does requiring someone to show proof of physical residency chill their speech?

Without this law in place, people can register to vote by using a P.O. box, not a real address. You can just imagine how some might exploit that to mass-register names at the same P.O. box, for people who aren’t Texas residents (and cannot legally vote).

All this law does is requires a person who is lawfully eligible to vote in Texas to prove they live in Texas. How is that a bad thing? Once again, Democrats were fighting a law that does not prevent lawful citizens from voting but just makes it hard for people to cheat.

Funny how they keep doing that, huh? If someone wants to vote in Texas, they need to be both a U.S. citizen and a resident of Texas. But it seems these activist groups wanted a loophole so that non-Texans (or perhaps non-Americans) were able to vote.

Why should any state allow that kind of thing? Thankfully, a federal judge lifted the ban from a lower court, meaning the law is now in effect. If someone wants to register to vote in Texas, they have to prove they live there.

This is just one example of how hard Democrats fight to undermine basic election integrity. They won’t rest until it’s impossible for our states to prevent rampant voter fraud, it seems. Unless Americans demand these kinds of protections, will we even have a democracy?

Key Takeaways:

  • A federal judge upheld a Texas law requiring proof of residency to register to vote.
  • Liberal activist groups sued, claiming the law “chills” the speech of voters.
  • The law requires voters who use a P.O. box when registering to prove a physical residency.
