The border crisis remains a serious concern for millions of American citizens, though it appears President Joe Biden has “more important things” on his mind.
The Department of Homeland Security keeps reporting historically high numbers, and even Democrat leaders like California Gov. Gavin Newsom are sounding the alarm on the influx of illegal migrants.
And while this is happening, the Biden administration has been preparing to drop the Trump-era “Remain in Mexico” policy.
However, that plan has been frozen in its tracks by a Texas federal judge.
Back in June, the Supreme Court ruled that the government could terminate the controversial policy, which states that certain illegal foreigners must wait for a trial in Mexico. They can’t be released in the U.S.
Then the Biden administration lifted the rule in August but unsurprisingly, this did nothing to help the border crisis.
Now, a judge in the Lone Star State says that in fact, Biden cannot lift the policy. This throws a wrench into the Democrat works, and sends an important message to Washington politicos.

A federal judge in Texas blocked the Biden administration from scrapping the Trump-era ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy Thursday.
U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk issued a pause on the Biden administration’s decision to end the program, according to the judge’s order.
The policy forces certain illegal immigrants to return to Mexico as they await court proceedings.
Judge Kacsmaryk stated in his ruling that “Defendants had to thoroughly consider the effect of the termination on mandatory-detention duties — Defendants failed to do so.”
The judge specifically stated the failure to “consider MPP’s impact on human trafficking,” and added that the state of Texas has to “shoulder much of the burden” of illegal immigration.
The bottom line is that termination of Remain in Mexico isn’t tied to current immigration law, and so the policy needs to remain in effect.
That comes as good news to many Republican leaders, as they’ve fought to keep the policy in place throughout Biden’s term. Biden made a push to end it his first day in office.
Now we’re facing disturbingly high numbers at the border: in fiscal year 2022 alone, over 2.3 million illegal immigrants were encountered, and that number is expected to rise in 2023.
Multiple governors and state leaders are saying they can’t handle the flood of undocumented travelers, either, and the stability and safety of the country is very much in question.
Keeping Remain in Mexico might be a step toward settling things down.
