Swing State Governor Betrays His Party – Drops Surprise Veto That Leaves Them Speechless

Former President Donald Trump frequently warns about RINOs. These “Republicans in name only,” he warns, actually work against the goals many conservatives stand for.

And it seems there is another RINO Trump will add to his list.

A Republican majority in a swing state managed to pass a bill that could protect children and families. Similar bills have been passed in other states, with the support of voters. But in a shock to the party, this Republican governor vetoed it.

From Fox News:
Republican Gov. Mike DeWine on Friday vetoed a bill that would have banned gender-reassignment treatment for minors and blocked transgender women and girls from participating in female sports leagues in Ohio.

“Ultimately, I believe this is about protecting human life. Many parents have told me that their child would not have survived, would be dead today if they had not received the treatment they received from one of Ohio’s children’s hospitals. I’ve also been told by those who are now grown adults that but for this care, they would have taken their life when they were teenagers.”

Republican Gov. DeWine vetoed a bill that would have banned transgender procedures on minors. The bill would have also prevented biological men from competing against biological women.

The governor rejected the bill “as written.” It is unclear what he meant by this. However, in defending his decision, the governor appeared to put forward talking points frequently used by transgender activists.

Proponents for subjecting children to life-altering hormones and surgeries often claim these are “live-saving” procedures. They often mask these procedures by calling them “gender-affirming treatments.” In reality, they have been accused of taking advantage of vulnerable children, forcing this ideology onto them.

Critics have often pointed out that minors are too young to make decisions that not only alter their appearance, but have dramatic consequences for their bodies. Minors who undergo transgender procedures are rarely told that the changes are irreversible. Often, transgender activists mislead families into thinking they are reversible.

It’s unclear what the consequences will be for the governor. This is not the first time DeWine has bucked the Republican Party and the values of many of its members. It remains to be seen if the state legislature will be able to override his veto

Key Takeaways:

  • Gov. DeWine of Ohio, a Republican, vetoed a Republican-led effort to protect minors.
  • He rejected a bill that would ban transgender procedures on children.
  • The bill also banned biological men from competing against women in sports.
