A southern state just used a new law to take the guns of a private citizen.
Lawmakers will use what power they can to rob us of our 2nd Amendment rights. They’ll hide behind excuses. They use tragedies to push their agenda.
That’s just what happened recently in Florida. A family was able to get law enforcement to take a man’s guns. And he was forced into psychiatric treatment.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that “four firearms and 267 rounds of ammunition” were taken from the man, and he was “taken to a hospital for involuntary psychiatric treatment.”
The seized firearms were listed as “a Ruger LCP .380 pistol, an M2 Mauser .45 pistol, a Charter Arms .357 mag snub nose revolver and a Mossberg 500 12-gauge shotgun.”
The paper notes that “the civil ruling removing his access to guns and ammunition was granted under … new legislation — which permits confiscating guns from people who have not been committed but are deemed a potential risk to themselves or others, according to the order signed by Broward’s Chief Judge Jack Tuter…
On March 9, Breitbart News reported that Gov. Scott signed a $400 million gun bill that includes orders which allows a family member or law enforcement to petition a judge to order the seizure of an individual’s firearms.
Those who defend this new law say it’s for our own good. If someone is sick, a family member can get a court to sign off on this move. That person’s guns will be taken and they might be sent to a hospital. But how do they prove a man is sick, before they have evidence?
This law can be manipulated easily. People will be considered guilty until proven innocent. It is a clear attempt at violating our Constitutional rights.
Why doesn’t government take stronger steps for other threats? What about all the dangerous people on the road? They don’t confiscate their cars or throw them into hospitals. Yet we don’t have an Amendment protecting our rights to drive.
Liberal government, though, tries to destroy the 2nd Amendment any chance they get. Because they don’t believe in our liberty. This law can obviously be abused to infringe on normal people’s rights.
All we can say do is push to protect our rights. And elect leaders who don’t hate the 2nd Amendment.
