Trump still appears pretty upset over how things turned out in the 2020 Election.
The 45th president appealed to the Supreme Court several times. Yet the court, despite a conservative majority, refused to even hear the cases (despite the fact that the courts often weigh in on election disputes).
Now, with Biden in power, it is possible he will erode the influence and authority of the highest court in the land. And Trump is not pulling any punches on the Supreme Court.
From Daily Caller:
Former President Donald Trump released a statement Monday in which he lamented the U.S. Supreme Court’s lack of courage “to do what they should have done” and predicted court-packing…
“Now there is a very good chance they will be diluted (and moved throughout the court system so that they can see how the lower courts work), with many new Justices added to the Court, far more than has been reported,” Trump speculated. “There is also a good chance that they will be term-limited.”
“Our politically correct Supreme Court will get what they deserve—an unconstitutionally elected group of Radical Left Democrats who are destroying our Country,” the statement reads.
Trump weighed in on the news that Joe Biden is “exploring” court reform with a new panel.
Democrats have constantly talked about packing the Supreme Court (and other courts) with many more judges, so that they can ensure a liberal majority.
Whether or not that’s possible for the Supreme Court is up for debate. But the fact that this is something Democrats might try to do is what Trump is focusing on.
He slams the court for not standing by him when he needed them the most. He criticized the justices he fought to appoint for refusing to hear his cases over the 2020 Election.
Trump was merciless, saying that if Biden packs the court, they will get what they deserve.
Plenty of critics, mostly Constitutional experts and members of the court themselves, discussed the damage that court-packing would cause.
It is an obvious ploy by a party to expand their power, so that the court won’t try to undermine whatever laws come out of Congress and the White House.
Even Justice Breyer opposes it, saying it would undermine America’s confidence in the court and erode its Constitutional duty to hold the two other branches of government in check.
