Democrats have gone to war with the Supreme Court over its conservative majority. Although they don’t admit it, liberals have tried to undermine the court, suggesting the conservative justices can’t do their job.
In reality, they fear this strong conservative court will upend many of their liberal sacred cows.
But the court once again disproved the left’s wildest claims. A critical case was brought before the court that could affect many Americans. It was clear what Democrats wanted since this came out of New York State. But every justice voted to shoot down the left’s agenda, in a huge setback for them.
From Fox News:
The Supreme Court on Thursday unanimously decided that the National Rifle Association (NRA) “plausibly alleged” that the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) violated the group’s First Amendment rights by blacklisting the group. In a unanimous decision written by Justice Sonia Sotomayor, the high court “holds that the NRA plausibly alleged that [then-New York State Department of Financial Services Superintendent Maria T.] Vullo violated the First Amendment by coercing DFS-regulated entities to terminate their business relationships with the NRA in order to punish or suppress the NRA’s advocacy.”
The Supreme Court sided with the NRA in a 9-0 vote. The court ruled that the State of New York violated the group’s First Amendment rights. The NRA sued New York after the then-New York State Department of Financial Services Superintendent Maria T. Vullo got banks and insurance agencies to cut ties with them.
The NRA argued that the liberal state was trying to cripple the NRA’s ability to do business, over New York’s anti-Second Amendment views. Previous Supreme Court decisions made it illegal for the government to coerce entities to end business relationships over viewpoints. The court upheld that view, maintaining the NRA’s First Amendment rights.
This decision is a major victory for the NRA and a huge blow to progressive activists in government. States will be unable to prevent conservative groups from functioning by manipulating banks or other companies they do business with.
The decision clears the way for the NRA to press its lawsuit against the State of New York.

- The Supreme Court voted 9-0 in favor of the NRA.
