Only one district, which has a majority black population, is considered Democrat-leaning.
Democrats apparently wanted to carve up those districts, so they would have a stronger showing in November.
But the highest court in the land rejected their claims and granted an emergency Republican application to keep the map.
This map will be used in the upcoming elections.
Democrats have long tried to manipulate congressional maps to give their candidates an upper hand. They try to dilute areas of a state they assume lean Republican, so their votes have less of an impact.
And they prioritize regions with high minority populations, assuming they will vote for Democrats.
This kind of manipulation is against a constitutional amendment, although it’s done all the time.
