The Supreme Court is the GOP’s last stand against the Democrats, who barely hold control of the White House and Congress.
Trump was able to give conservatives control of the Supreme Court with his pick of three Justices, but many people are wondering if those Justices will honor and protect our Constitution.
In the case of California, the Supreme Court was petitioned to review their tight lockdown restrictions, and the Supreme Court has made a 5-4 ruling. From Fox News:
The U.S. Supreme Court in a split decision Friday night ruled that houses of worship in California may hold indoor services at 25% capacity, giving a partial win to groups fighting the state’s coronavirus restrictions, according to reports.
Our First Amendment rights include the freedom of religion. The Democrat-run state of California kept churches closed, keeping churchgoers from worshiping together .
Thank God the Supreme Court is out there fighting for our Constitutional rights to practice our religious freedoms. This decision is just a stepping stone as the ruling only calls for 25% capacity, but that doesn’t mean we give up on this fight.
Justices Neil Gorsuch and Clarence Thomas both agreed that there should be a lift on all restrictions regarding religious practices.
Even if a full congregation singing hymns is too risky, California does not explain why even a single masked cantor cannot lead worship behind a mask and a plexiglass shield, Gorsuch wrote, according to Politico.
Gorsuch is among those five votes in favor of bringing back people to the Church. He thinks that 25% is too low and that there shouldn’t be any restrictions to worship now.
Where can we take this now? Other states facing similar issues and can use this decision in their own cases. It’s time to fight back.
- Supreme Court has become conservatives’ last line of defense.
- 5-4 decision is a big win for churchgoers.
- 25% indoor capacity for houses of worship.
