Donald Trump ran for president in 2016 on the promise of making America safe. He also said he would be the “law and order” president, a motto that Democrats don’t seem to appreciate.
Has President Trump kept his word?
Donald did stick firmly to his agenda to defend the nation’s borders. But from the very start, Democrats have tried to undermine his agenda through lawsuits.
And the Supreme Court just ruled on a critical case meant to defy Trump’s plan—and it was a close victory at 5-4:
The Supreme Court by a 5-4 vote has denied a request to halt construction of President Trump’s border wall over environmental concerns…
A federal appeals court had ruled against the administration last month, but the justices, for now, have given another temporary victory to the administration.
A group sued the Trump administration to prevent the building of the border wall. They claim the wall poses an environmental threat to the region.
Yet in their own writings, this group calls Trump’s border system a “xenophobic border wall.” This suggests their motivations are political and they are not concerned with the migrating habits of jaguars or wolves.
A lower court rejected their claims, citing a 2007 law with a “nearly identical context.” The Supreme Court upheld this precedent, proving that the president has the legal power to defend the borders.
The ruling by the Supreme Court reveals that Trump’s DHS has not been violating environmental concerns for the area.
In fact, the border fencing system does allow for the crossing of animals via floodgates, that can be opened and closed during migration seasons.
It appears federal courts took that into account when reviewing these Democratic groups’ complaints.
After the ruling, these groups wrote, “The fight continues.” Which further seems to suggest their fight is not at all about the environment, but politics.
If they were merely concerned with wildlife, they should have been content with the measures the DHS made to accommodate them.
But these so-called environmental groups continue to try to stop the construction of the wall, which appears to show they are only seeking to prevent the president from defending the border.
Since he entered office, Trump has successfully built hundreds of miles of new border fencing, while improving areas that previously had poor security.
His administration has focused on “high traffic” areas that are frequently used by smugglers and criminals.
Should he be elected a second term, Trump promises greater expansion of his border wall system.
Do you want Trump to be re-elected so he can finish the border wall?
- The Supreme Court ruled in favor of Trump’s border wall, upholding a previous lower court ruling.
- Environmental groups claim the wall is damaging to wildlife, though they call Trump’s wall “xenophobic.”
- The Trump administration has been successful in building hundreds of miles of border security.
