Stacey Abrams Suffers Embarrassing Loss – This May Be the Last We See of the Failed Democrat

A Democrat darling who believes she actually won her gubernatorial race (but lost badly) was smacked with some bad news. For years this anti-Trump leftist “leader” of her party has pledged to right the ship when it comes to Georgia elections.

Failed gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams for years has championed her nonprofit as a solution to what she believes are voter suppression issues. Abrams was bounced from contention for governor in the 2018 Georgia election.

She followed her loss by refusing to concede the election and launched her Fair Fight nonprofit. The organization quickly amassed more than $100 million to fund its efforts. But Abrams’ dreams were dashed on recent financial news for the charity.

From the Daily Caller:
Fair Fight, a group Abrams founded to combat alleged voter suppression in Georgia, will be laying off 75% of its staff and significantly narrowing its scope of operations, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The organization holds $2.5 million in debt but only has $1.9 million in cash, according to the AJC.

Fair Fight faces a “serious funding deficit that makes our current trajectory unsustainable,” according to Salena Jegede, chair of the nonprofit’s board. This is a stark turn of events for the organization that raised such large sums and spent large amounts on advertising and legal fights.

The organization’s political arm, Fair Fight Action, aired an advertisement during the 2019 Super Bowl, one the most expensive events for advertising. The TV spot featured Adams.

Tax forms show that Fair Fight Action spent more than $25 million on legal expenses between 2021 and 2022. This included $231,000 in court-ordered legal fees after losing an extended case that alleged over suppression in Georgia.

Finances for Fair Fight have been dropping for years. Tax filings show the organization held net assets of more than $21 million at the end of 2020. Subsequent years showed funds dropping to $3.4 million in 2021 and further to $1.5 million in 2022.

Reports allege that much of the money raised by Fair Fight directly benefited Abrams and people close to her. Tax documents show that more than $9.4 million was spent between 2021 and 2022 with Lawrence & Bundy. This is a law firm where Abrams’ former campaign chair, Allegra Lawrence-Hardy, is a partner.

Required disclosures show $1.5 million in donations from Fair Fight to a pro-Abrams political committee. The nonprofit also allotted $2 million worth of staff time to support Abrams during her second run for governor, reports showed.

What is astounding is how leftist Democrats have attacked former President Donald Trump for alleged election “denial” while Abrams’ unwillingness to concede her 2018 loss is justified by the left and their cohorts in the national media. Maybe Abrams will fade away as her nonprofit continues toward closure.

Key Takeaways:

  • Stacey Abrams’ once wealthy nonprofit posted huge debt and plans layoffs.
  • The nonprofit was questioned for its political support of the darling Democrat.
  • Years of spending millions on legal fights helped doomed Abrams’ Fair Fight.
