Democrats thought they had the Senate all tied up. They were able to fight off an attempt by Herschel Walker to take Warnock’s seat in Georgia. That resulted in a 51-49 Democrat majority. Which could spell trouble for the Senate–perhaps the death of the filibuster.
But they forgot one important detail. For a long time, radical activists had hounded one Democrat senator. They invaded her privacy, insulted her, and tried to bully her into betraying her ethics and values. And it seems just as Democrats were popping the Champagne corks, Sinema dropped a bomb on them.
Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona said in remarks published at 6 a.m. ET Friday that she’s leaving the Democratic Party and registering as an independent…
It’s a political earthquake that will shake up the Senate — and a gut punch for Democrats just three days after they secured a 51-49 majority.
This is huge news. Democrats lost their 51-seat majority, now that Arizona Sen. Sinema has become an independent. And this doesn’t seem to be the kind of, Bernie Sanders, “I’m an independent, but not really,” kind of thing.
Sinema blasted the Democrat party for becoming too partisan and accused it of becoming “radicalized.” By becoming an independent, it means she will not walk in lockstep with the left. She will have more freedom to defy Biden and Chuck Schumer’s far-left agenda.
Democrats just lost a key vote on many issues, including ending the filibuster. This move effectively makes Sinema the most powerful senator–ousting milquetoast Joe Manchin.
But why did she do this? Why did she jump ship and leave Democrats reeling? It probably has something to do with the fact that Democrats had been treating her like trash ever since she was elected. They even sicced radical activists onto her, harassing her in the bathroom!
From Fox News:
Senator Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ari., fired back after far-left activists recorded her in an Arizona State University bathroom, calling the behavior unacceptable and bashing the confrontation as an illegitimate protest.
Remember that, from last year? Yeah, so does Sinema. As an independent, Sinema won’t have to bow to political pressure. She will cater to Arizona voters who have expressed distrust in the two major parties. This is an obvious strategic move to protect her future re-election chances.
It has upset every Democrat on Capitol Hill.
- Kyrsten Sinema has left the Democratic Party to become an independent.
- The senator blasted Democrats for their partisan antics and radicalization.
- The move was probably influenced by radical activists harassing Sinema over the years.
