Democrats in the Senate are Falling Apart – Their 2024 Concerns of a GOP Sweep Just Paralyzed Them

What’s Happening:

They might have bragged about a lack of a “red wave” in 2022. But don’t be fooled. Signs point to big trouble for Democrats in the coming years. Major blue states saw every district shift to the right. Republicans took back the House. And as Biden continues to fail to fix inflation and the recession, Democrats will have big problems going into 2024.

In fact, things are looking very bad for Democrats in the Senate. They will have to defend a slim majority, with many vulnerable seats up for re-election. How bad are their prospects? Well, it seems like nobody is willing to take over the very organization aimed at winning Senate seats.

This is hilarious.

From Fox News:

There does not seem to be any Democrats eager to take charge of the party’s Senate re-election arm.

The 2024 Senate map highly favoring Republicans next cycle casts a dark shadow over the Democratic Party’s already slim majority, leading some strategists to believe it is the reason why no one is nominating a chair to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC)…

“We are talking about 23 Senate seats that Democrats need to defend. Three are in purely red states while five are swing states. So it’s no wonder that no senator is jumping at the opportunity, especially during a presidential election year.”

Lol, this is so rich. The Democrats need a new head for their Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. This is the committee that oversees fundraising and other efforts to secure election wins for the Senate.

In 2024, Democrats will have to defend at least 23 Senate seats. Three of those are in red states, meaning it will be very hard for them to keep them. Five more are in swing states, meaning they will also be tough battles.

On top of that, signs point to Republicans having an advantage going into 2024. Biden will be forced to defend his seat in the White House, after what will most likely be four horrible years. His approval has been terrible since 2021.

And voters who vote against him will be inclined to also vote against the many Democrats fighting for their Senate seats.

Prospects are so bad, nobody seems to be willing to take over the DSCC. I don’t blame them. Whoever does will get the brunt of attacks, if and when they lose in 2024. They have the unpleasant job of coming up with a strategy for winning, with a president who is good at losing.

Not even Chuck Schumer wants the job. Now that’s saying something!

Key Takeaways:

  • Senate Democrats are reluctant to find a new head of the DSCC.
  • Signs point to Republicans retaking the Senate in 2024, as Biden continues to lose.
  • Democrats lost the House this year and voting trends are moving to the right.
