President Donald Trump once again fulfilled his campaign promises when he picked Brett Kavanaugh to be the next Supreme Court justice.

According to his record, Kavanaugh is a strict originalist when it comes to upholding the Constitution.

Instantly the left revolted. Even before they knew Trump’s pick, they were preparing their angry, hate-filled responses. Despite Kavanaugh’s sterling credentials, liberals rioted and promised to block him.

While most Republicans in Congress voiced their support, several were uncertain.

Now a top senator made it clear he supports Kavanaugh—a clear sign this is a done deal.

Sen. Rand Paul said Monday that he will support Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh after meeting with him last week.

“I believe he will carefully adhere to the Constitution and will take his job to protect individual liberty seriously,” Paul said in a statement.

The Kentucky senator was one of the few Republicans considered a possible swing vote on Kavanaugh’s confirmation. Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, also are being closely watched.

But with Paul voicing clear support — and Collins and Murkowski signaling potential support in recent weeks — Kavanaugh’s prospects appear to be improving as GOP leaders aim to engineer a swift confirmation by the fall.

In another sign of congressional outreach, Kavanaugh is having his first meeting Monday with a Democratic senator since becoming Trump’s high court nominee.

Let’s be perfectly honest, there was no way the Democrats could oppose Kavanaugh’s confirmation. It’s not like Trump was going to select a liberal judge. Anyone he picks will protect the Constitution. And nobody else has the power to appoint justices. To dig in their heels and oppose Kavanaugh would make liberals look really bad—right before election time.

Their protests were just the droning sound of powerless babies. As usual.

With Paul’s support, Kavanaugh’s confirmation is all but assured. He will be installed as a strong conservative vote on the Supreme Court. It will mean decades of strong, uncompromising leadership on our nation’s highest court.

The left can whine all they want, but it’s going to happen.
