Democrat Chuck Schumer thinks he can use his scowling face to shame Republicans into obeying him.
But it seems his old tricks just don’t work anymore.
He held a press conference to claim he’d slow down Senate activities to prevent McConnell from confirming Trump’s Supreme Court nominee.
He said he’d use every tool he has to stop Trump’s Constitutional duty to pick a new SCOTUS justice.
But even the left-leaning media wasn’t buying his schtick. They even demanded to know why he changed his position:
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was grilled by reporters on the Supreme Court, with one reporter telling him “you switched your position,” when the Senate Democratic Leadership held a press conference on 9/22/2020.
Another reporter brought up an important point that Schumer did not want to think about:
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was confronted on his hypocrisy regarding the Supreme Court with one reporter telling him that “President Trump won the election Senate Republicans won,” when the Senate Democratic Leadership held a press conference on 9/22/2020.
Remember, Democrats were all too eager to get a new justice on the bench after Scalia died in 2016.
That was months before the November election. In fact, Democrats have a history of forcing through nominations, if it suits them.
Ginsburg, after all, was confirmed quickly—in just 50 days.
So, why is Schumer now promising to “slow down” the process, hoping a justice won’t get in before the election?
He obviously is expecting Democrats to take over the White House and Senate by next year.
That’s not very Constitutionally-minded of him, now is it?
Another reporter reminded Schumer of the inconvenient fact that elections have consequences.
Republicans won control of the Senate years ago and held in recent elections. Trump won the White House in 2016.
That means the people want them to lead the country, including confirming another justice.
Schumer and the rest of his party can’t give a good enough excuse to stop the process.
The only reason it appears they are angry is over partisan politics.
- Schumer threatened to stop the SCOTUS vote by obstructing the Senate.
- Reporters called him out on flipping his opinion from the past.
- Another reminded Chuck that Republicans control the Senate and White House for a reason.
