After Schumer Suffers Major Senate Losses – Chuck Blames It All On A Zipper And Ruth Bader Ginsburg

What’s Happening:

Sen. Chuck Schumer had a chance to win back the Senate this election. Instead, he fell flat on his face. At best, he might get a 50/50 split, far from a reliable majority, regardless of who the president is.

Even then, he won’t have the power to add new states, end the filibuster, or “pack” the Supreme Court. Some gave him a 75% chance at winning the Senate. Wow, glad I didn’t put money on those odds.

So, what happened? Democrats have been weighing in, blaming Schumer directly. But old Chuck has his own excuses:

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer told Democratic donors that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death and North Carolina Senate candidate Cal Cunningham’s extramarital affair ruined the party’s chances of retaking the Senate…

Schumer specifically blamed Cunningham’s inability to “keep his zipper up” for why Democrats are unable to have more than a 50-seat majority in the next Congress.

Like a typical liberal, Schumer is blaming other people for his failures. He attacked candidate Cal Cunningham, who was exposed for cheating on his wife right before the election.

Schumer also said that Ginsburg’s death helped Republican Susan Collins “reframe” her race and get a needed bump. Collin’s re-election bid was plagued by polls that all but predicted a massive loss.

Instead, she was re-elected, putting the pollsters to shame (not hard to do, these days).

Both arguments from Schumer ring hallow. What about all the other races, where Democrats lost big? They pumped hundreds of millions to unseat Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham.

Those Republicans won bigly, regardless.

Maybe their losses have something to do with how Democrats have behaved all this year? They ignored COVID at first, only to overcompensate with abusive lockdowns.

They applauded riots and supported defunding the police. Senate Democrats went even further, promising to pack the Supreme Court and add states just to add to their Senate totals. Not to mention deprive the minority party of the filibuster.

Schumer can come up with as many excuses as he wants, but the facts seem pretty clear from here. He, like Pelosi, wasted the last four years attacking conservatives. They refused to work with Republicans, sealing their reputation.

He can complain all he wants, but he must know that’s the truth.

Key Takeaways:

  • Schumer blamed his Senate losses on Cunningham and RBG.
  • He said the Tennessee Democrat’s affair cost him his race.
  • Schumer also said Collins’ saved her re-election bid.
