Chuck Schumer and his buddy Old Nancy Pelosi are pushing the second impeachment of Donald Trump pretty hard. But it doesn’t look like it’s going the way they hoped.
Many have said (including legal experts) that their charge cannot produce a conviction—given a lack of evidence to make the charges stick. Plus, forty-five Republicans in the Senate voted to dismiss the trial, a sign that Dems don’t have enough votes.
Now, Sen. Rand Paul says maybe Schumer should have a taste of his own medicine. If he can impeach Trump over words, he thinks Republicans can impeach him.
Kentucky Senator Rand Paul again defended his stance against Donald Trump’s impeachment on Sunday, arguing that lawmakers’ push to convict the former president… unfairly targets political speech…
“[Schumer] went to the Supreme Court, stood in front of the Supreme Court and said, specifically, ‘Hey, Gorsuch. Hey, Kavanaugh. You’ve unleashed a whirlwind, and you’re going to pay the price,'” the senator continued.
Republican Rand Paul called out Schumer’s attempt to convict President Trump over political speech. He accused Schumer of trying to “criminalize speech.”
Paul then pointed out that if Schumer is so outraged, claiming Trump’s speech “incited” the events of January 6, then what about the things Chuck’s said?
Not all of us have forgotten what Schumer did in front of the steps of the Supreme Court. He specifically named Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, making veiled threats against their voting on important cases.
His words sparked “protesters” to bang on the doors of the Supreme Court. Who knows what they would have done, had they gotten in?
Should Schumer be held accountable for his speech, then? Paul seems to be arguing he should. If Trump’s free speech gets trampled over this trial, then few politicians are safe.
Recently, Kevin McCarthy warned what might happen if Republicans regained the House. They would use the “same standard” as Democrats for going after Republicans.
It appears Paul is making the same warning. If Schumer is really trying to criminalize the free speech of a president, then what will stop Republicans from doing the same to him?
Do you think Republicans should pursue impeaching Chuck Schumer and other Democrats who used harsh political speech?

- He accused the Democrats of “criminalizing” speech.
- The Republican senator warned that if they could do it to Trump, Republicans might do it to Schumer.
- Schumer infamously named and threatened members of the Supreme Court.
