Trump and Republicans made a swift move against Democrats, but Paul Ryan swooped in to betray them.
DOJ deputy Rod Rosenstein made the bombshell revelation that twelve Russians tried to interfere in our election. On social media. That nothingburger has been the only solid evidence to suggest Russia was involved in our election at all.
On top of that, many wonder why Rosenstein hasn’t been forthright with Congress over the ongoing investigation. Numerous requests from GOP lawmakers for information have been ignored.
It has led to a showdown between Republicans and the Deputy Attorney General. But it looks like Paul Ryan is about to get in the middle of it.
From Fox News:
House Speaker Paul Ryan on Thursday publicly opposed the conservative-led bid to impeach Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, saying their accusations don’t rise to the necessary level of “high crimes and misdemeanors.”
“I don’t think we should be cavalier with this process,” Ryan told reporters when asked about the newly introduced articles of impeachment.
The speaker’s comments splashed cold water on the impeachment push after the articles were filed Wednesday night — though there were already signs conservatives were dialing back the push and want to use the threat more to pressure the Justice Department to produce documents pertaining to the Russia probe.
Sources told Fox News earlier Thursday that House Republicans were not planning to pursue the impeachment articles before the summer recess.
We have to wonder why Republicans are so eager to impeach the Deputy AG. He works directly for Jeff Session and—through him—the president. Is Rosenstein a member of the swamp, a D.C. insider that is looking to take down the president?
Considering the Russian investigation has yet to produce evidence to suggest Trump worked with Russia, I doubt it. Congress is more upset that they haven’t been in the loop with this witch hunt—I mean case.
Much is going on behind the scenes we just don’t know about. And that doesn’t sit well with Congress.
This move to impeach has always been about putting pressure on Rosenstein to give up the goods. Our representatives deserve to know what is going on in the DOJ. But Ryan’s involvement only makes matters worse.
Congressmen are getting progress. They are uncovering the facts. Yet once again Ryan comes out to undermine the GOP and help our rivals. Why? Why wouldn’t Ryan want to aid Republicans is getting vital information revealed?
We have to question just whose side Ryan is on—and make sure everyone knows what he did so he doesn’t get away with it.
