Ron DeSantis Scores 2nd Victory over Disney – Democrat Lawsuit to Stop Florida from Stripping Tax Privilege Rejected

What’s Happening:

The governor of Florida has been on a roll lately. Defying corporate interests, he’s gone to war with woke Disney.

He passed a law that revoked the company’s special control over the land on which Disney World stands.

Of course, liberals sued. But a federal judge rejected their agenda.

From The Washington Examiner:

A federal judge tossed out a lawsuit against Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) that sought to halt the dismantling of the Walt Disney World Resort’s Reedy Creek Improvement District.

U.S. District Judge Cecilia Altonaga determined Tuesday that the federal court lacked standing because it was a state issue, the plaintiffs’ First Amendment arguments were flawed, and the lawsuit was premised on a piece of legislation that does not go into effect until July.

Believe it or not, it wasn’t even Disney that sued DeSantis. It was William Sanchez, a Democrat running for Senate.

I guess Sanchez was hoping to get on Disney’s good side? But the judge was brutal in her response.

She ruled federal courts do not have jurisdiction over state law. The judge also said the First Amendment claims were “flawed.”

And that the left jumped the gun because the law does even go into effect until the Summer.

“Experts” claim that taxes in the Orlando area will rise as a result of DeSantis’s new law. Of course, they don’t explain how.

This new law will revoke Disney’s tax-exempt status. This means the company might end up paying more.

Logic would dictate, then, that local residents’ taxes might actually go down since this corporation will now be paying instead of enjoying a free ride.

But this issue is more than just taxes. It’s about a major company enjoying special perks while trying to abuse its influence over the state.

Disney exposed its gay agenda by attacking a law protecting school children. Florida is simply ending perks this company has enjoyed for 55 years because Disney thinks it can call the shots.

Key Takeaways:

  • A federal court rejected a lawsuit against a new Florida law.
  • The law revokes Disney’s special tax-exempt status.
  • The judge ruled that it can no jurisdiction over state law.
