This RINO Congressman Impeached Trump – Now He’s Getting Hit with Brutal Karma

In the aftermath of the 2020 Election, Democrats were on the warpath against Trump. Without an investigation, with virtually no evidence, they voted to impeach Trump—even though he was no longer in office. It seems they wanted to ensure he could not run again, should the impeachment result in a convict from the Senate.

The impeachment passed in the House, thanks to several Republicans who voted against their supposed ally. Americans were shocked to learn that there were Republicans so willing to turn on a former president over nothing but accusations.

The impeachment failed when the Senate could not convict Trump. But many of the Republicans who voted against Trump faced hard repercussions. Most of them are out of office. But two remain in power. Now, at least one of them might be seeing the last days of their time in Congress.

From Daily Caller:
Former Republican Senate nominee Tiffany Smiley launched a primary challenge on Monday to Rep. Dan Newhouse of Washington, who is one of two remaining House GOP members who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump in 2021…

The Republican emphasized her support for veterans in an announcement video on X, and touched on issues like government spending, immigration and inflation…

California Rep. David Valadao is the only other current GOP House member who voted with Newhouse and eight others to impeach Trump over his alleged involvement with the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

Anti-Trump Republican Rep. Dan Newhouse is facing a primary challenger. Tiffany Smiley, who said she has fought big government from the private sector for years, is running to take Newhouse’s seat in the House. Newhouse is in a vulnerable position since voters will remember he voted against Trump in the Democrat-led impeachment.

Smiley revealed she is a supporter of America’s veterans and vowed to deal with government spending, immigration, and Joe Biden’s inflation. Should she get enough support among Republicans, including Donald Trump, she very well might defeat Newhouse in the GOP primaries.

Most of the Republicans who turned on Trump in 2021 are long gone. Many of them dropped out of office, probably because they knew they’d lose reelection. Four others did in fact lose their primary races to candidates supported by Trump.

Washington is a deep-blue state. But Newhouse won his last election by 35 points, suggesting his district has many strong Republican voters. It will be interesting to see if they are eager to kick him out in favor of a pro-Trump candidate.

Key Takeaways:

  • A Republican who voted to impeach Trump is facing a primary challenger.
  • Newhouse has been challenged by outside Tiffany Smiley.
  • Newhouse is only one of two anti-Trump Republicans still in the House.
