The Trump case may not be going as planned for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

The move to indict the former President over alleged hush-money payments has been met with plenty of criticism from both sides of the aisle, and now the GOP-led House is talking about possible repercussions.

Now, instead of Trump getting punished, it might be the other way around.

House Administration Committee chairman Rep. Bryan Steil recently told Breitbart that they gave Bragg until Thursday to respond to an interview request. But that was just the tip if the iceberg.

Rep. Steil is going deeper and as a result, he’s issued a strong warning to other District Attorneys.

If they insist on playing the political smear game – which many Republicans believe is the case with the Trump arrest – DAs around the country are going to run into serious financial troubles.

Chairman of the House Administration Committee Bryan Steil (R-Wisc.) issued a blunt warning Monday to hyperpolitical big city district attorneys:

Any federal funding their offices receive may be at risk if they are abusing their prosecutorial power to settle political scores rather than fight violent crime.

Steil was a guest on “Just the News, No Noise” and he said that federal funding for prosecutors is supposed to help make our cities safer.

However, if the GOP determines during the course of their investigation that DAs have been “weaponized” across the country to “grind a political axe,” then that funding may disappear very quickly.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is behind this idea as well, as he’s ordered House committees to look into federal funds being used for “politically motivated prosecutions.”

Said Steil:

We continue to see DAs across the country engaged in political behavior. That sure looks like it’s the case in this situation.

What we want our DAs to do is actually go and work in the judicial system in an unpolitical way to actually hold criminals accountable and put guilty criminals behind bars.

Other GOP leaders, like Reps. Chip Roy (TX) and Lauren Boebert (CO), also accused Bragg of abusing his authority and using his power as a political statement.

Rep. Roy said in a statement on Twitter that the Trump indictment is a “clear danger of a politicized ‘justice’ system” that will be “weaponized against ALL Americans.”

Rep. Boebert even went a step further:

We’re witnessing the most obscene political witch-hunt in American history.

The federal government has been weaponized against anyone who opposes the current regime.

Rep. Rand Paul (R-KY) even said that DA Bragg “should be put in jail.”

Americans have become increasingly concerned that politics are taking over nearly every facet of our society, including the justice system. Now partisanship and political correctness seem to be dictating law.

If they really can “weaponize” lawmakers in this manner, it’s bad news for a country that’s already seeing mass division.

At some point, there’s going to be pushback — and Republicans simply want everything to get back to normal, if that’s at all possible right now.
