It has been said that the progressive left is trying to erase America’s heritage. Using buzzwords like “inclusivity” and “diversity” the woke left has tried to remove statues, demonize heroes, and even erase words from the dictionary.
But every day, it appears to get worse. The Department of Veterans Affairs (an agency infamous for widespread corruption) issued a memo demanding an iconic WWII photo to be replaced. The backlash was so fierce, that a higher-up had to rescind the request.
From Daily Wire:
The famous “V-J Day” photo shows a U.S. Navy sailor kissing a total stranger in Times Square in the immediate aftermath of the news that Japan had surrendered. The memo last month from RimaAnn Nelson, the Veterans Health Administration’s top operations official directed VA medical facilities to “promptly” remove the photo and replace it with something more appropriate.
Apparently, some woke official within the VA hated the famous photo of a sailor kissing a woman in Times Square, after learning of the end of the horrible war. It seems this liberal was offended that the man would kiss total stranger out of the joy that the bloodshed was finally over.
The head of the VA, Secretary Denis McDonough, had to come out and say the photo would not be banned from VA facilities. But that wasn’t good enough for some Republicans.
Let me be clear: This image is not banned from VA facilities – and we will keep it in VA facilities. pic.twitter.com/dYSikLxHAJ

From Fox News:
Two Republican lawmakers are calling for the removal of a Veterans Affairs official responsible for a since-rescinded memo that directed the removal of the iconic V-J Day in Times Square photograph from VA health care centers…They called the memo “only the most recent in a long line of misguided actions and woke agendas dictating the management of the VA.”
Montana Sen. Steve Daines and Rep. Ryan Zinke—both Montana Republicans—are calling for the firing of RimaAnn Nelson, the Assistant Under Secretary for Health Operations. They accused the official of pushing a woke agenda that is “dictating the management” of this agency.
The official seemed to suggest the photo would be triggering to veterans and claimed it violated the agency’s rules toward sexual harassment. While this could have been a “woke” move, it sounds more like the soulless kind of bureaucracy rife within the federal government.
Many government officials prize rules over heart and soul. And a very famous photograph celebrating the end of a devastating war matters little to them, in the face of their precious rules.
It is unlikely most, if any, veterans are offended by a picture that has been around since their grandparents were young.
