President Trump Calls For Reopening Schools – If They Don’t Comply, Donald Threatens To Cut Off Their Funding

What’s Happening:

During the onset of the nationwide lockdowns, most states shut down schools and colleges. American students’ academic careers were upended, as they struggled to finish the school year online. As the year marches on through Summer, many have wondered if schools will be able to reopen in the Fall.

Most U.S. states are in the process of reopening the economy. Yet Democrats in particular appear unwilling to commit to a plan to ensure students can return to school in August/September.

Now, President Trump is making his intentions to reopen schools very clear. If states don’t comply, he is threatening to cut off their funding:

In Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and many other countries, SCHOOLS ARE OPEN WITH NO PROBLEMS. The Dems think it would be bad for them politically if U.S. schools open before the November Election, but is important for the children & families. May cut off funding if not open!

The state-mandated lockdowns had a tremendously negative impact on the U.S. economy. But it appears some media outlets have ignored the devastating effects lockdowns had on families with children.

Students were unable to finish the school year properly. Younger students struggled to attend online “classes” (not to mention families that could not afford tablets or computers). Parents scrambled to find daycare or sitters as they went to work or returned after months of shutdown. Should this continue into the Fall, some experts are predicting the worst.

President Trump points to European nations like Germany, Denmark, and Norway, saying they have apparently reopened schools with little trouble. He blames Democrats for wanting to keep schools shut, putting undue stress on children and parents, all to affect the outcome of the election.

Many critics have suggested Democrat-run states pushed harder lockdown measures, in an attempt to deliberately hurt the economy. Perhaps hoping to influence the 2020 Election. It appears Trump is suggesting they are doing the same thing with schools. They might be trying to prolong Americans’ suffering, thinking they will take it out on President Trump.

But President Trump has said he may cut off funding to states that refuse to reopen their schools. Teacher’s unions and state education boards will try to fight such a move. But if they aren’t willing to reopen their schools, why do they need funding?

Key Takeaways:

  • As states reopen, some refuse to commit to a plan to reopen schools in the Fall.
  • President Trump has called on all states to reopen schools.
  • He has threatened to withhold funding to any state that does not do so.
