2017 was a historic year. It is being hailed as “The Year of Trump.” America has experienced unprecedented changes thanks to our new President. He has fulfilled many of his campaign promises. And more are to come.
The year closed out with the largest tax cut in decades. President Trump made good on his promise to lower taxes for all Americans. That achievement alone is worth celebrating.
Media outlets and pollsters try to gauge America’s reaction to the President. Throughout the year, they released polls. They want to make it seem like most of America disapproves of the President’s job.
But a new poll from the reliable Rasmussen has been released that is more than a little eye-opening.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 45{75726800c12fe2ebed14402fd98444a61f7eda42751f92330bc58faf20bd8821} of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Fifty-three percent (53{75726800c12fe2ebed14402fd98444a61f7eda42751f92330bc58faf20bd8821}) disapprove.
The latest figures include 29{75726800c12fe2ebed14402fd98444a61f7eda42751f92330bc58faf20bd8821} who Strongly Approve of the way the president is performing and 44{75726800c12fe2ebed14402fd98444a61f7eda42751f92330bc58faf20bd8821} who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -15. (see trends).
Trump is ending his first year in office with virtually the same job approval ratings that Barack Obama earned on Dec. 29, 2009, at the end of his first year as president. On that date, 46{75726800c12fe2ebed14402fd98444a61f7eda42751f92330bc58faf20bd8821} of voters approved of the job Obama was doing; 53{75726800c12fe2ebed14402fd98444a61f7eda42751f92330bc58faf20bd8821} disapproved.
We saw in 2016 just how flawed polling is. In today’s day and age, it seems surprisingly outdated. Plus, there are ways pollsters can swing results in their favor. But it is telling to see that Rasmussen’s results match Obama’s rating in 2009.
Why is that so important? Obama was given special treatment by the media. He was handled with kid gloves and praised by everyone on the left. Everything he did his first year was spun into a victory by CNN, New York Times, NBC, and everyone else.
Meanwhile, Trump has been attacked relentlessly by a hateful and biased media. They’ve ignored his accomplishments, while pushed fake narratives like the Russia scandal. Yet after a year of fake news, he has the same approval rating as “beloved” Obama.
Imagine what it would be if the media were being honest?
Things will only improve in the coming year. Americans will discover how much better things after the tax cut. There will be few left who refuse to admit that Trump is making America a much greater place.
