In recent months, Democrats have grown worried about Joe Biden’s chances at re-election. Swing state polls have shown Trump with a growing lead over the incumbent.
This has sparked concerns from a growing number of liberals that Biden might not be viable in 2024.
This, in addition to very low approval polls, could put his campaign in jeopardy. Now, yet another report is surfacing that will have Democrats mulling alternatives.
From Daily Caller:
Biden garnered only 63% support from black voters in a GenForward survey from the University of Chicago, while former President Donald Trump received 17% of the share and 20% said they wouldn’t back either candidate, Politico reported Tuesday. Several other recent surveys have also found Biden struggling among the black electorate, with support for the former president surging.
A new poll once again shows Biden’s support from black voters dwindling. In 2020, he had nearly all black voter support, at 92%. Today, that number has dropped significantly, to 63%. In the same poll, 17% of black voters said they would vote for Donald Trump.
This comes as many Americans blame Biden for various problems affecting the country. Rampant inflation has impacted the economy, along with crippling energy policies that have driven up the cost of energy.
On top of this, Biden’s handling of the Southern border has outraged many Americans. Studies suggest that illegal immigration disproportionately affects black workers, as migrants often take many jobs.
It is possible these and other factors are discouraging black voters from rallying behind Joe Biden. Another 20% of black voters stated they wouldn’t back either Trump or Biden, leaving a large gap the Democrat might not be able to overcome.
It’s important to keep in mind how third-party candidates will impact Biden’s chances. Cornell West, a progressive civil rights leader, could steal away many black votes. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. could draw away even more liberal voters from Biden. And should Joe Manchin decide to run as an independent, Biden is in very big trouble.
- A new poll shows black support for Biden continues to decline.
- Only 63% of black voters support Biden, down from 92% in 2020.
- Biden has watched his support among various groups dwindle in recent months.
