For the past 12 years, the National Association of Police Organizations have backed Joe Biden.
They supported Biden and then-President Barack Obama back in 2008, and voted to endorse them again in 2012.
But their allegiance to Biden appears to have disappeared.
Instead of choosing to back the presumptive Democrat nominee for President, NAPO has decided to stand up for the incumbent.
The news comes after NAPO leaders met with the President on Monday — the meeting must’ve gone well, because the results favor Trump.
Via The Daily Wire:
On Wednesday, the National Association of Police Organizations, which backed Barack Obama and Joe Biden in 2008 and 2012, issued an open letter endorsing President Trump for reelection, thanking him for his ‘steadfast’ support for law enforcement.
NAPO is comprised of over 1,000 police associations nationwide, and includes 241,000 officers.
Their support of the President comes during a time of turmoil for law enforcement, as the country is still feeling the effects of the George Floyd fallout.
Clearly, police believe Donald Trump is a friend of law enforcement.
THANK YOU @NAPOpolice and their 241,000 brave law enforcement members for a FULL & COMPLETE ENDORSEMENT! I will ALWAYS back the men and women in blue, and never let you down. LAW AND ORDER will prevail! #LESM https://t.co/tJnA0EpuTR

And police organizations could use a friend right now, as they face difficult questions and accusations from concerned citizens.
As NAPO President Michael McHale said in his letter:
Our officers have been under vicious assault. Reckless politicians have defamed our heroes as the enemy…
These radical politicians want to defund and abolish the police. My administration is pro-safety, pro-police and anti-crime.
McHale also praised the President for his “steadfast and very public support” for America’s uniformed officers.
He further cited “unfair and inaccurate opprobrium” directed at their members in recent months, much of which we’ve seen in various protests and riots.
The Trump administration has been stalwart in their support and approval of police. So it shouldn’t come as a big surprise that they’re returning the favor.
However, one wonders if this will curry enough favor with voters to swing the polls.
Currently, Trump is trailing in many polls, as both the pandemic and Floyd incidents continue to stress the nation.
If the President wishes to get reelected, he could certainly use the help of organizations like NAPO. Now, will other influential organizations follow suit…?
- The National Association of Police Organizations formally endorse President Donald Trump.
- This marks a switch in allegiance — NAPO had backed Joe Biden (and then-President Barack Obama) since 2008.
- Only time will tell if this support will help Trump in the polls.
