Since the low point back in March, the United States economy has been clawing its way back, and it just made an important milestone.
President Trump promised an amazing third and fourth quarter of this year. And over the summer, jobs numbers and unemployment continued to beat expectations.
But did that trend continue through August? Many have been waiting to see if Trump’s leadership is right for this moment in history.
Key jobs numbers can in today—and they were better than many expected.
Vice President Pence was quick to respond with what he believes this means:
Vice President Mike Pence noted that it’s a “great day for American jobs and American workers” and that the “American comeback is underway,” during CNBC’s coverage of the August jobs report on 9/04/2020.
Over the month of August, the U.S. economy added at additional 1.4 million jobs. Unemployment continued to fall, reaching 8.4%
Both numbers beat expert predictions and suggest the country continues to recover after the COVID panic.
Vice President Pence spoke about the numbers, saying this proves the American “comeback is underway.”
Since the pandemic, President Trump has worked to keep the economy afloat. Even as governors shut down states and forced people out of work, Trump was strategizing.
He passed relief packages that put money into American’s pockets and created a program to spare many small businesses.
He also worked to bring key manufacturing back to the country, most notably drug and pharma manufacturing.
Even during the lockdowns, he negotiated new deals and helped seal new opportunities. Trump mobilized the private sector to battle the disease, with therapeutics, PPP, and other supplies.
Meanwhile, Democrats did everything in their power to stagnant our recovery.
Governors in liberal states are still forcing shutdowns, even though red states prove you can keep people safe while still going to work.
At this point, it’s hard to believe Democrats really care about Americans’ well-being.
- According to the jobs numbers, 1.4 million new jobs were added in August.
- The unemployment rate dropped to 8.4%.
- Vice President Pence proclaimed the “American comeback is underway.”
