Despite not getting a new relief package passed, Nancy Pelosi allowed the House to go on Summer recess.
That brought criticism from many, including President Trump.
It appeared the California Democrat cared more about campaigning in her home town and enjoying some Sun, than getting work done.
But now that her mail-in-voting scheme is in jeopardy, suddenly Pelosi wants to get back to work.
Because a major bailout is high on her to-do list:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested members could be brought back from August recess to address issues regarding the U.S. Postal Service, while urging Democrats to appear at their local post offices amid the battle to protect mail-in ballots for the 2020 presidential election.
Pelosi, D-Calif., on Sunday said the post office has become “Election Central” due to the coronavirus pandemic even as President Trump and Republicans have warned for months that universal mail-in ballots would cause widespread voter fraud in the election.
Pelosi appears to be frantically trying to get House members back to D.C. to cook up some kind of bailout for the Post Office.
The Speaker has been pushing mail-in voting for months, claiming the pandemic made it “too dangerous” to vote in person.
President Trump has criticized the plan, saying mail-in voting is too susceptible to voter fraud.
Even as the media and Democrats scoffed at his warnings, evidence came pouring in that mail-in voting across many states is deeply flawed.
New York chucked 100,000’s of ballots because they got in late. Other states followed the same route. There were stories that blank ballots were abandoned in apartment hallways.
And entire mail truck carrying ballots was set on fire.
Democrats can no longer claim mail-in voting is safe. So, what’s Plan B? To try to spend billions to make the Post Office look good.
Apparently, Nancy Pelosi thinks that giving the USPS billions in bailout money would suddenly make mail-in voting safe and secure.
Yet, it would most likely take months or years for the Post Office to use any such funds to develop a program that ensured ballots were delivered properly.
We don’t have that kind of time, with the election this November.
Does Pelosi think that throwing money at the problem will make Americans willing to take the risk?
Most states have reopened from the lockdowns. If they can buy groceries safely, what’s stopping Americans from safely voting at their local polling place?
Even Anthony Fauci—a bigtime lockdown fan—says it’s safe to vote as normal.
So, what is Pelosi really doing?
- Pelosi shut down the House without making a deal on a new relief bill.
- She is now scrambling to get members back to pass a USPS bailout.
- The Speaker seems to be trying to throw money at the problem.
