While Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez knows as much about the government as a preschooler, she was right about one thing. That the current Democratic leadership in Congress has to go.
(Hey, even a broken clock is right twice a day!)
The real reason, though, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer have failed as leaders is because they allow the far-left to push them around too much. These so-called moderates with decades’ worth of experience appear to have no backbones or convictions. So, they refuse to stand up to dummies like AOC.
That’s probably why Democrats lost seats in the House, while Republicans gained.
But now, even moderate Democrats are starting to come around to AOC’s suggestion.
From Fox News:
Rep. Abigail Spanberger, D-Va., on Thursday said she supported her colleague Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s, D-N.Y., contention that the Democratic Party needs new leadership…
Asked by Mitchell whether she agreed with Ocasio-Cortez that the party needs new leadership, Spanberger said: “We’re a broad tent party. I have longed maintained that we need to have new voices and new leadership across the board.”
Why It’s Important:
It looks like even moderate Democrats, who would lose if they embraced socialist policies, want Pelosi and Schumer gone.
They are clamoring for new leadership in the party, because they want to be a “broad tent party.”
They’re right that their current leadership has failed. But sadly, they are hardly a big tent party.
Democrats make a big deal about the color of your skin or your orientation, but they don’t respect you if you have different opinions.
A “broad tent party” would be one that welcomed all Americans with shared values and convictions, even if they disagreed on various ways to implement those values.
(Which is what the Republican Party, at the grassroots, is becoming more and more like.)
But Democrats have not shown tolerance or acceptance to anyone that doesn’t march to the progressive left’s tune. Even Pelosi and Schumer have feared challenging this toxic win of the party.
There doesn’t seem to be anyone left in the Democratic Party that is actually interested in standing up for traditional American values, values most voters care about. Even Sleepy Joe, the “moderate”, looks more and more like Bernie Sanders each passing day.
So, AOC might get her wish, but not the moderates. They might jettison Pelosi and Crying Chuck, but will they find better leaders to can take them into the next decade?
- Moderates are joining AOC in calling for new Democratic leadership.
- Ironically, Dems in Congress are losing ground because they cower to the far-left.
- House Democrats lost seats in the election, thanks to voters’ rejection of progressive views.
