After Nancy Pelosi Blocks Relief Bill – 4 Days Before Election, House Republicans Unload $47 Billion Bill

What’s Happening:

Nancy Pelosi has prevented a new COVID relief bill from being passed for months.

Trump has even been willing to compromise with a $1.8 trillion package. Again, the Speaker refuses to cooperate.

It’s clear she is unwilling to give the president a win, just before the election. Meanwhile, some Americans continue to suffer.

But House Republicans aren’t taking this sitting down. They are pushing their own plan:

A group of Republicans in the House of Representatives will introduce a $47 billion coronavirus relief bill Friday morning. There have been months of stalled negotiations between Republicans and Democrats on a stimulus package…

Of the $47 billion, $31 billion would go to vaccines, therapeutics, diagnostics, surge capacity, and telehealth. The remaining $16 billion would go to additional testing and tracing.

Republicans have produced a bill that will provide $45 billion in mostly COVID response and treatment.

While Pelosi plays games, Republicans are working on a solution to provide additional support for battling the virus.

President Trump has previously stated that a COVID vaccination would be provided to all Americans free of charge.

This bill could possibly help with funding for that, whenever a vaccination is ready.

But it seems Democrats are unwilling to even work on providing this kind of package.

This package does not appear to include checks to out of work Americans or funding for businesses.

Instead, it goes to where it appears to be needed most: treatment for COVID.

While some might argue over how much money is needed to deal with one disease, the bottom line remains that Democrats refuse to cooperate.

Because of the Democratic majority in the House, it is uncertain if this bill will be passed.

It’s clear Republicans are trying to work with the left. The left? Not so much.

A package like this is sure to sail through the Senate and reach the president’s desk.

But don’t hold your breath waiting.

Key Takeaways:

  • Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats have refused to pass new COVID relief.
  • They rejected an offer from Trump which would have cost $1 trillion.
  • Republicans crafted their own plan, costing $45 billion for treatment.
