Nancy Pelosi Accused Of Major Power Grab – Republican Emmer Says She’s Trying To “Subvert Democracy” In Iowa

When Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks won an Iowa election by a tiny margin of 6 votes, Democrats instantly questioned the verdict. Some floated the idea of investigating the election.

Miller-Meeks’ opponent, Democrat Rita Hart, claimed 22 votes were wrongfully discounted, and Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) has been pushing the House Administration Committee to overturn the results.

But if House Speaker Nancy Pelosi supports this, she could be in trouble.

Previously, Pelosi said she’d be open to the possibility of investigating the Iowa election, and Republican politicos and lawmakers were quick to respond.

Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN), chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), told Breitbart News that Pelosi and her crew can’t be allowed to pursue this.

Emmer used some strong language on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Sunday, and reminded everyone that Democrats could further “disenfranchise” voters.

He also accused Pelosi and House Democrats of basically turning democracy on its head (from Breitbart):

Nancy Pelosi and her radical left socialist Democrat majority are literally trying to subvert democracy and overturn certified election results, and they are going to deny any Iowa voter.

Frankly, they’re going to disenfranchise the Iowa voters who have already decided this thing.

For many Republicans, the irony of the situation is obvious.

After the highly controversial presidential election, then-President Donald Trump and his team demanded an investigation into the voting results.

Democrats immediately accused them of going against the democratic process, and essentially called Trump himself an enemy of democracy.

Now, the Blue politicians are doing exactly the same thing, it would seem: they don’t like the results of a very tight election, so they want to probe the process. And they also want the victory overturned.

But Emmer says Pelosi and her colleagues aren’t going to get away with it.

He called the entire proceedings a “partisan power grab” and made it plain that Republicans will fight it every step of the way. Emmer stated:

As we go forward, Matt, I can guarantee you we at the National Republican Congressional Committee will make sure that the voters hold them accountable for this partisan power grab in November of ’22 if, in fact, they do it. That will be the issue.

Emmer lastly called out Rep. Cindy Axne (D-IA) for not standing up against “Nancy Pelosi and the radical socialist agenda.” Emmer says Axne has been “completely silent” on the issue.

To Emmer and other GOP members, this proves that Axne is more loyal to Pelosi and the Democrat agenda than to Iowans. And that’s why he believes Axne will not be reelected in November of 2022.

As for Pelosi, she’s been relatively quiet about this since the story broke.

She has voiced her support for a probe but since the GOP push-back, she hasn’t doubled down on the idea. But if she does, Republicans are obviously primed and ready to fight.

Key Takeaways:

  • NRCC Chairman Rep. Tom Emmer accused House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Democrats of a “partisan power grab.”
  • He claims their demand to investigate the Iowa election won by only 6 votes “subverts democracy.”
  • Emmer also called out state Rep. Cindy Axne for siding with the “radical socialist agenda,” and choosing not to side with Iowa citizens.
