What’s Happening:
Defying warnings from Americans and the Chinese, Nancy Pelosi traveled to hotly-contested Taiwan. As predicted, nothing much came from her visit—except increased threats from the communist nation.
How has Pelosi responded to the fact she might have single-handedly sparked an unnecessary conflict? Um… your guess is as good as mine.
From Twitter:
Q: The military drill since yesterday: do you think how they think this visit will affect the U.S.-China relationship?
Pelosi: When I was a little girl, I was told at the beach if I dug a hole deep enough we would reach China. So we’ve always felt a connection there. pic.twitter.com/REkohVmpVp— Maria Dubovikova (@politblogme) August 6, 2022

What did she say? Is Pelosi always half in the bag, these days? Needless to say, people were not impressed.
From Newsmax:
“We are truly led by imbeciles,” tweeted Clay Travis, Outkick founder…
“LOL what?” said Benny Johnson, host of The Benny Report on Newsmax.
“You’re telling me this person was our best choice to visit taiwan?” Logan Hall tweeted…
“Pelosi’s comment doesn’t really make sense geographically,” National Review’s Jack Wolfsohn wrote. “If you could theoretically dig a hole straight from China — and make it through the hard inner core of the earth — you would end up closer to South America than to the United States.”
Pelosi gave an inexplicable answer to a question about increased aggression between China and the U.S.
She talked about digging a hole deep enough to reach China. And, because of that, “we’ve always felt a connection there.”
What the heck is she even talking about? As usual, the Speaker sounded a bit off during her comments, raising concerns that she is not totally… you know… sober.
(Not that you needed to hear her to think that.)
Critics online were quick to question the Speaker’s bizarre response. Clay Travis said we are run by “imbeciles.” Couldn’t have said it better.
Logan Hall asked a reasonable question, wondering if this was the best choice to send to beleaguered Taiwan.
National Review’s Jack Wolfsohn pointed out that even if you could dig a hole through the earth, you’d end up closer to South America, not China.
So, even Pelosi’s childish analogy fell flat. Not that it worked even if it did. Pelosi antagonized the communist country for no reason.
Nothing she did at Taiwan will end up helping that nation, especially since Biden refuses to declare them an independent nation.
Pelosi might have triggered action from Taiwan, an action America will not respond to.
In reality, she might have made the problem much worse. But at least she gets to pretend like she’s a real leader.
Key Takeaways:
- Pelosi was met with backlash over her “digging to China” comment.
- Users called out her inappropriate and odd response to a question.
- Pelosi might have triggered conflict with China by visiting Taiwan.
