Democrats can only sit and watch as Trump appoints a third Supreme Court justice.
In response, the left has made all kinds of threats. One includes “packing the court” with as many justices as possible to get a liberal majority.
There appears to be no Constitutional basis for their goal—expect partisan politics.
So, Republican congressman Jim Jordan is working to stop them in their tracks:
Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, submitted a resolution to Congress late Tuesday seeking to prevent any party from “packing” the Supreme Court and calling for a limit to nine justices.
“Any attempt to increase the number of Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States or ‘pack the court’ would undermine our democratic institutions and destroy the credibility of our nation’s highest court,” Jordan wrote.
Rep. Jordan is moving with a resolution that would prevent any party to increase the number of justices on the Supreme Court.
He warned that “packing” the court would undermine its integrity and the credibility of our institutions.
Democrats have not even bothered to explain why it would be legally necessary to “pack” the court.
Their only motive, it seems, is to destroy the conservative majority Trump will create with his third pick.
But the Constitution does not allow parties to make massive changes simply over the fact they don’t like a president’s nominees.
It’s clear that much of what Democrats have done in recent years was not out of duty to the law, but out of petty partisanism.
They impeached Trump, not on the grounds of “high crimes and misdemeanors” (as the Constitution requires), but because they didn’t want him to be president.
They want to “pack” the court because they want the court to rule in their favor on all future cases.
But it doesn’t work that way. The Supreme Court is to rule on whether laws are Constitutional or not.
The court doesn’t exist to give Democrats an advantage on every and all issues from here to the end of time.
It seems Democrats don’t agree. They want to force their agenda, it appears, no matter what.
Even if Americans don’t want it.
Jordan’s proposal, if adopted, would prevent any party from packing the court. That includes Republicans or anyone else.
It seems the congressman is against any moves to radically alter our highest court.
- Jim Jordan is moving forward with a resolution to prevent packing the SCOTUS.
- This comes after Democrats have threatened to “pack the court” over Trump’s third nomination.
- It appears Democrats simply want a liberal majority, no matter what.
