Days After GOP Governor Vetoes Anti-Woke Bill – Republicans Make 1 Stunning Move

Recently, Americans were stunned when GOP Gov. Mike DeWine vetoed a bill protecting parents and children. The law would have banned transgender procedures on minors and prohibited men from competing in women’s sports.

DeWine made excuses, but some pointed out how he received large donations from hospitals that conduct these procedures.

But it doesn’t look as if Ohio Republicans are taking this sitting down. GOP lawmakers came together after DeWine’s veto. And they just shot down his woke agenda.

From Just the News:
The Ohio House on Wednesday voted to override Gov. Mike DeWine’s, R, veto of a ban on gender-related treatments for minors and transgender participation in school sports on teams that do not align with their sex.

The House voted 65-28 in favor of overriding his veto of House Bill 68, The Hill reported. Republicans have a supermajority in the state Senate and are expected to hold their own vote later this month.

The Ohio House voted to override Gov. DeWine’s veto of their transgender bill. In a 65-28 vote, they acquired enough support to overturn the governor’s move. The Ohio Senate enjoys a Republican supermajority as well. It will vote on the same bill later this month.

Likely, they will also have enough votes to defeat DeWine’s veto.

When he shot down this bill, DeWine claimed he believed “parents rather than government should be making” decisions about a child’s gender. However, it seems DeWine is neglecting the fact that many parents are coerced into supporting the left’s transgender agenda.

In some states, parents are cut entirely out of the loop, with progressive teachers and guidance counselors convincing children they are trans. Republicans believe legislation is needed to protect parents’ rights and prevent children from being exposed to life-altering procedures.

According to reports, 23 states have banned at least gender surgeries for minors, but not necessarily other procedures, like the use of hormones. Republicans appear to be siding with many parents, who oppose public schools from pushing transgender ideology onto their children.

Key Takeaways:

  • The Ohio House voted 65-28 to override the governor’s veto of a transgender ban.
  • Ohio’s Senate has a Republican supermajority and will likely do the same.
  • Gov. DeWine, a Republican, shocked Americans when he vetoed a bill banning transgender procedures on minors.
