In today’s world, leftist Democrats seem to be able to say almost anything they want and get away with it. No matter the topic, the public outcry over their offensive gaffes doesn’t invoke the negative media coverage that might give them pause in the future.
Often what Democrats say would cause the liberal media to attack any conservative who said the same thing. Conservatives have been shut down for the simplest statement while Democrats are allowed to run their mouths.
One of the most loud-mouth liberals in politics today just got away with another insult that would cause punishment to any conservative. Democrat New York Gov. Kathy Hochul mouthed off her opinion about children of color and the liberal media ignored it as usual.
From Fox News:
“It’s sort of our attitude,” Hochul continued. “We will be the best, we will be the first, and I want others to follow, because right now we have young Black kids growing up in the Bronx who don’t even know what the word ‘computer’ is. They don’t know. They don’t know these things.”
Her remarks were intended to generate publicity for the state’s $400 million “Empire AI” initiative funding artificial intelligence in the state.
Someone should have allowed the artificial intelligence to do the talking because Hochul opened her mouth and stuck her foot in it. The governor had to apologize, saying she, “misspoke.” But unlike any conservative who might have made such a gaffe, she gets to keep rolling along with little media fanfare against her.
Hochul made the insensitive remark during a speech at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Los Angeles, California. She attempted to highlight New York goals to build a supercomputer that could attract more federal money to the state and deliver access to researchers and college students in the state.
She tried to explain how the state wants to expand access to cutting-edge technology to younger people in low-income communities like the Bronx. Hochul stated she wants “the world opened up to all of them” to address “society’s broader challenges” by giving access to “diverse voices innovating solutions through technology.”
The governor’s comments about expanding technology were overshadowed by the harsh backlash against her statement about black children having limited knowledge. The media let her walk, but not the leaders serving the people of New York.
New York State Assembly Member Karines Reyes said Hochul’s statements were deeply disturbing. “Our children are bright, brilliant, extremely capable, and more than deserving of any opportunities that are extended to other kids,” Reyes said. “Do better.”
New York would be better off if voters there sent Hochul packing and turned to someone who actually delivers on promises to work for the good of New Yorkers.
Key Takeaways:
- The New York governor slipped up publicly about how she really sees young Black people.
- New York Gov. Kathy Hochul let loose that Black kids don’t know what “computer” means.
- The Democrat was lambasted by New York politicians who called her comment “disturbing.”
