After Democrat Majority Leader Turns On Cuomo – Almost 50 More Stand Up For Cuomo’s Impeachment Or Resignation

What’s Happening:

Perhaps Gov. Cuomo thinks that because he’s a Democrat, he can get away with the growing scandals?

He issued an “apology” over recent charges against him. But in no way is he willing to resign. This, despite shocking allegations from former staffers and an FBI investigation.

In the past, Democrats were devoted to their own, unwilling to turn on a fellow liberal. But now, it looks like the damn is breaking.

Because the biggest name in New York politics is taking a stand.

From NY Post:

Gov. Andrew Cuomo “must resign” as sexual harassment allegations against him continue to mount, state Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins said Sunday — after the governor reportedly insisted she’d have to impeach him.

And it seems like the tsunami is just starting to crash.

From Fox News:

Since the statement from Stewart-Cousins, more lawmakers from the state have stepped forward and are calling for his resignation.

According to a tally from Fox News, a total of 37 lawmakers from either the Assembly or state Senate want him to resign, and 10 have called for impeachment.

Why It’s Important:

Since the state Senate majority leader called on Cuomo to resign, 50 lawmakers have either called for the same—or for impeachment.

It’s not just the growing reports of harassment that sparked Stewart-Cousins’ news-making statement. She also cited the FBI probe over the nursing home scandal—and other problems that seem to be dogging the governor.

Stewart-Cousins had previously said that if more people come forward with allegations, Cuomo “should” step down. That was when three women reportedly accused him of mistreatment.

Since then, two more women have accused Cuomo of inappropriate conduct. Is that enough, Stewart-Cousins? Probably should have made a statement after the first one, huh?

But better late than never, right? Since so much dirt is cascading over Cuomo, it seems like Democrats have no choice but to call him out.

It’s possible they fear some of this falling back on them. After all, Cuomo didn’t do all this (allegedly) in a bubble, right? Other Democrats had to either know about all this previously, or been involved themselves.

It looks like NY Democrats are offering up Cuomo as a scapegoat.

Key Takeaways:

  • More women have come out to accuse Gov. Cuomo, bring the current total to five.
  • The state Senate majority leader has called on him to resign.
  • Fifty state lawmakers are calling for his resignation—or impeachment.
