Governor Newsom is in deep, deep trouble. Not so long ago, he had an apparent 60% approval rating.
By recently, it had dropped to 40%. And a movement to recall him gained serious steam. The campaigners hit their 1.5 million goal—but worries remained that Newsom would try to thwart them.
So, Republicans threw in support to ensure the movement gained even more signatures. Even the RNC donated $250,000 to bring them over the finish line.
Now, with just days before the official deadline, here is the latest tally.
From Fox News:
The petition to recall California’s Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom has collected 1.95 million signatures just days ahead of the final deadline to qualify for a statewide ballot.
And a crowd of Trump supporters gathered at the California Capitol to send Newsom a clear message.

After it was announced that the group trying to recall Gov. Newsom reached 1.95 million signatures, a group of supporters was seen outside the CA Capital.
These folks, most likely Trump supporters and patriots, shouted “Goodbye Newsom” to celebrate their achievement.
It has been reported that the effort to collect signatures was a statewide campaign. Conservative groups rallied supporters to ensure they had more than enough to trigger a recall election.
Once the signatures are certified, there will be a recall election this November. Gov. Newsom will face a battle to keep his job, as rival candidates fight to oust him.
Several Republicans from the state have already suggested they are going to run. There will probably be a primary race over the Summer to determine who will go toe-to-toe with Newsom.
California conservatives have detested Newsom’s leadership for years. But his mishandling of the COVID pandemic appeared to unite residents from all backgrounds.
Now, we get to see just how united Californians are in getting rid of this Democrat.
- The movement to recall Newsom has reached a reported 1.95 million signatures.
- If certified, this means Newsom could be recalled in November.
