It’s not a secret that people have been fleeing the rotten Big Apple for years now. But ever since Cuomo and de Blasio botched their COVID response, things have been getting worse.
Many of the rich New Yorkers (who voted for these clowns, mind you) have gotten fed up with all the crime, garbage, and lockdown restrictions. And they are pulling up their stake and moving to greener pastures.
Caravans of moving trucks have been seen in wealthier parts of the city, with more coming to other parts of the state.
That has resulted in such a massive drop in tax revenue, that Cuomo scrambled to get the schools open (that didn’t work, though, thanks to the mayor).
And now, it might cost them more than just money. From Fox News:
More residents escaped from New York over the last year than from any other state, according to estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau on Tuesday.
Some 126,355 people high-tailed it out of the Empire State between July 2019 and July 2020, a dip of 0.65 percent, the preliminary figures show…
If the numbers hold, New York could lose one seat, dropping to 26, according to an analysis by William Frey, chief demographer for the Brookings Institution, The New York Times reported.
If New York’s population continues to drop, they might actually lose a seat in Congress.
For those that don’t know, states are supposed to see increases in population, not decreases. As a state flourishes, families grow and have kids, adding to the population.
On top of that, immigrants and other citizens flock to a prosperous state, also adding to the final tally.
For a state with a city once considered greatest in the world to see a population drop? Well, you have to have a Guinness World Record book-level of incompetent leaders.
How do you take a prosperous place like New York and drive people away? Even in the 70s and 80s, when crime was on the rise, people kept flocking to NYC.
But it only took a few years under de Blasio and Cuomo for one of the most successful parts of the country to turn into a wasteland.
To lose a seat in Congress is pathetic. But maybe it’s what they deserve. Maybe if New Yorkers come to their senses and elect Republicans, their fortunes will turn around.
- Hundreds of thousands of people have fled New York.
- One expert predicts that the state might lose a seat in Congress.
- Residents are leaving, largely due to the strict COVID rules.
